Written during the unsuccessful Russian Revolution of 1905, Maxim Gorkis represents a brilliant, dark comic book, “The Children of the Sun,” a new middle class, perhaps silly, but compassionate, confronting, philosophizing, and seeking meaning, being completely blind to its approach to destruction. Award-winning filmmaker Timofey Kulobins (Three Sisters, Onegin) upgraded production at Stanford University in 1999, focusing on the interaction between characters formed and broken relationships, sparring about culture and space, almost without feeling, lightening danger. Script by Kulyabin and removed from his Red Torch Theater in Novosibirsk, Russia.
